Excellent A fantastic book and a great addition to a great series。 Nina is complex and absolutely riveting。 The storyline is interesting with a very surprising conclusion。

God I love me an Isabella Maldonado book。 There's nothing like a fast-paced FBI procedural to get your blood pumping after a series of romance novels。 Adding in the Egyptian elements got my 8 year old Egyptologist self excited, and the elements were well done。 I didn't feel as though there was *quite* enough foreshadowing for the unsub reveal, but it was still exciting。 And the growing sexual tension between Kent and Guerrera? Chef's kiss。 I don't know if there'll be a book 4, but I am SO down。* God I love me an Isabella Maldonado book。 There's nothing like a fast-paced FBI procedural to get your blood pumping after a series of romance novels。 Adding in the Egyptian elements got my 8 year old Egyptologist self excited, and the elements were well done。 I didn't feel as though there was *quite* enough foreshadowing for the unsub reveal, but it was still exciting。 And the growing sexual tension between Kent and Guerrera? The Falcon is the third book in the Nina Guerrera series, but the first I've read。 I really liked the book and think it works well as a standalone novel。 Nina is an FBI Special Agent assigned to a case in Phoenix, Arizona。 Young women are disappearing from a college campus and the FBI has been called in to assist。 I love the procedural elements of the book and the way Nina and her core team work together, each using their special skills and knowledge to contribute to the investigation。 Nina is a The Falcon is the third book in the Nina Guerrera series, but the first I've read。 I really liked the book and think it works well as a standalone novel。 Nina is an FBI Special Agent assigned to a case in Phoenix, Arizona。 Young women are disappearing from a college campus and the FBI has been called in to assist。 I love the procedural elements of the book and the way Nina and her core team work together, each using their special skills and knowledge to contribute to the investigation。 Nina is a brave, smart main character who is trying to put past traumas in her life behind her。 She doesn't give up even when facing danger or when the case turns personal。 The Falcon is a well-written Procedural Thriller that is fast-paced and intense。 I especially liked the procedural chapters。 However, the chapters describing the predator's methods are disturbing and at times hard to read。 However, overall I really liked the book and rated it 4。5 stars。 I think fans of Lisa Regan or Jeffery Deaver would enjoy this book by Isabella Maldonado。 I know I want to go back and read the book that comes right before this one in the series。I received this ebook from NetGalley through the courtesy of Thomas and Mercer。 An advance copy was provided to me at no cost, but my review is voluntary and unbiased。 。。。more

I adore the Nina Guerrera mysteries and this one was just as fun! I love how Isabella Maldonado writes mysteries! Showing the victims and the investigation from the killer's perspective throughout the story makes the plot much more intense and creates an exciting insight into the mystery。 I also love how she writes characters that feel so incredibly real。 Every character carries past traumas that impact their lives without controlling who they are and how they act。 I love that her characters are not shown as weaker because of what they went through, but instead immerge stronger for it, even as they deal with their PTSD。 I also feel like I am being tormented with unrequited relationships in my mystery series! I desperately want two of the characters to date, and while I understand why they do not, I am hoping to see them together in future books! I know when I pick up a book from this series, I am going to be unable to put it down! I read the first book in this series and while I found it enjoyable, there was also quite a bit that I found lacking as well。 I somehow missed the second (although it has since been added to my TBR pile), but was excited to see that there was a third installment in this series。 And honestly? I loved this book! I loved this book! It was nice to see how much the entire cast has grown and developed since the first book (especially Bianca, a young girl that Nina saved five years prior from an abusive situation)。 I really enjoyed seeing how the team has really come into their own, each utilizing the skills he or she is best at in order to find the culprit in these heinous crimes。 Nina has also really come into her own going from someone who uses their past trauma as a shield (although many references are made to it), to someone who can see that they are capable of loving and being loved in return。 I think that this revelation will only make her stronger in the future books, and I can't wait to see what happens next! However, speaking of the crimes that take place, I will admit that some people may find the intimate details of the girls' imprisonment to be gruesome, and some may not be able to stomach the methods used (a take on falconry and how birds of prey are trained is all I can say without giving too much away), but I felt that they were needed so that we could get that deep look inside the twisted mind of the person behind the abductions and murders。 I also enjoyed the author's creative use of red herrings to keep the reader guessing as to just who might be behind it all, I will admit that even I was surprised by the earth-shattering reveal at the end。 My one complaint about this story is that the killer's "notes" are too small to read on my kindle paperwhite, so I really would have liked to have had a more detailed mention of what they entailed at the end when everything was wrapping up, but other than that this was a very well-done addition to this series。 If you are a fan of shows like Criminal Minds and CSI, I am sure you will enjoy this story。 I will read more from this author! 。。。more

Can Nina stop the killer before he takes a new victim? Here is a gripping excerpt from Chapter 1:"Fairfax County police officer Nina Guerrera's booted feet pounded the pavement as she raced after the shadowy figure fleeing from her。 The thirteen-year-old girl she chased was petite - no bigger than Nina - but she was fast。Nina knew from experience that a blast of adrenaline favored sprints over marathons。 All she to do was keep her quarry in sight and wait for fatigue to set in。Probably coming to the same conclusion, the girl gripped the edge of a metal trash can as she rushed by, tipping it into Nina's path。Nina timed her footfalls as the can rolled toward her, hurdling over it without slowing her pace。"I can do this all night, Bianca," she called out。 "How about you?""Overall, The Falcon is a serial killer thriller that will appeal to fans of the Unsub series。 One highlight of this book is how it maintained my interest throughout and even increased the tension midway through。 Another highlight of this book was the creepy chapters from the serial killer's perspective, which included facsimiles of notes that he was taking on each of the girls that he kidnapped and his disgusting plans for each。 If you're intrigued by the excerpt above, or if you're a fan of police procedurals, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in July! 。。。more

FBI agent Nina Guerrera and her team are back, hunting down another serial killer。 Like the other books in this series, the killer is highly intelligent and always seems one step ahead。 Yet, Nina has proven time and time again, she won't give up without a fight。This is the first book in the series where I correctly guessed the killer based on one small detail provided。 But the author did a good job of trying to throw suspicion elsewhere, making me second guess myself。 However, I never could have FBI agent Nina Guerrera and her team are back, hunting down another serial killer。 Like the other books in this series, the killer is highly intelligent and always seems one step ahead。 Yet, Nina has proven time and time again, she won't give up without a fight。This is the first book in the series where I correctly guessed the killer based on one small detail provided。 But the author did a good job of trying to throw suspicion elsewhere, making me second guess myself。 However, I never could have been able to tie the mysterious kidnappings to the title of this book。 Very clever。If you are a fan of this series like me, you've probably wondered if/when Nina would ever get a love interest。 Given her past, I understand why relationships aren't for her。 But some close calls in this book have her rethinking the future, given the reader just the slightest bit of hope。 I'm eager to see where things lead。*An ARC was received via NetGalley for an honest review。For more reviews, visit 。。。more

“The Falcon” is #3 in the Agent Nina Guerrera series。 Just wanted to get that out there first in case you want to grab “The Cipher” and “A Different Dawn” and read them before digging into this newest installment。 Now, you absolutely don’t have to, as “The Falcon” reads pretty great as a standalone novel, but trust me on this。 You want to read the whole series。The newest entry in to the series finds FBI Agent Nina Guerrera and her crackerjack team working a case involving the mysterious disappea “The Falcon” is #3 in the Agent Nina Guerrera series。 Just wanted to get that out there first in case you want to grab “The Cipher” and “A Different Dawn” and read them before digging into this newest installment。 Now, you absolutely don’t have to, as “The Falcon” reads pretty great as a standalone novel, but trust me on this。 You want to read the whole series。The newest entry in to the series finds FBI Agent Nina Guerrera and her crackerjack team working a case involving the mysterious disappearance of five young female students at an Arizona university。 Their unsub is several steps ahead of them, and they are racing to solve the case when a sixth young woman goes missing (I won’t spoil it here, but my one tiny gripe with this book is that this plot point was fairly obvious very early on)。 This isn’t your run-of-the-mill serial criminal, this one has a unique backstory that includes Egyptology and falconry (thus the title)。 If you love police procedurals, creepy criminal masterminds, non-stop action, and a hard-to-predict perpetrator, this is the book for you! Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for providing me an advance copy of this book。 。。。more

This is only the third volume in the series, but I already know the characters so well, that I can’t help but rooting for them。 The author was a real-life FBI agent, and it shows in her writing。 All her officers are smart, no going into a room without checking that the bad guy is not behind the door。 One of the victims is also so awesome, I kept yelling at my Kindle every time there was a scare。 Maldonado was the first Latina to become a captain in her district, so she must know how to work hard This is only the third volume in the series, but I already know the characters so well, that I can’t help but rooting for them。 The author was a real-life FBI agent, and it shows in her writing。 All her officers are smart, no going into a room without checking that the bad guy is not behind the door。 One of the victims is also so awesome, I kept yelling at my Kindle every time there was a scare。 Maldonado was the first Latina to become a captain in her district, so she must know how to work hard。 This shows, especially in Nina。 She is a really strong character and her flaws make her relatable。 It’s nice to see how she may be learning how to feel and the secret she reveals about herself made me gasp。 The plot is very suspenseful and some parts made me hyperventilate。 Wherever Nina goes, I will follow。 I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased。 Thank you, #NetGalley/#Thomas & Mercer! 。。。more

The Falcon was a page turner that I was unable to put down! Read like an episode of your favorite crime TV show。 It is the third book in a series; however, I read it as a stand-alone with out taking away from the novel。 If you like a fast paced crime novel this is your book!

The Falcon by Isabella Maldonado is a solid 4-star book for me。 It was a bit predictable that a particular character was going to go missing。 There was a bit too much information about falconry, which pulled me from the story at times。 However, what kept me interested was the storyline of the mystery, and I did NOT see that culprit coming! Overall, a good mystery。 I would read more from this author。 #TheFalcon #NetGalley @AmazonPub

This continuation of the Nina Guerrera series was yet another suspenseful page-turner! The Falcon has a taste of a Phantom of the Opera-style villain with modern, raw twists。 I appreciated the depth of the character development, building on the previous books, and the twists and turns that drew out their true colors。 If you haven't read the first two, this one is excellent and can be read alone, but I HIGHLY recommend reading the first two to have Nina's backstory in detail。 This continuation of the Nina Guerrera series was yet another suspenseful page-turner! This could probably be read as a stand-alone, but I decided to read the first two installments before delving into this one, and I’m so glad I did—what a gripping series! In the first installment, we are introduced to FBI Agent Nina Guerrera, who’s had a pretty rough life。 Abandoned in a dumpster as an infant, she bounced around foster homes, neglected and unloved, before being kidnapped and tortured by a psychopath when she was 16。 At 17, she emancipated, changed her name, and used her past to f This could probably be read as a stand-alone, but I decided to read the first two installments before delving into this one, and I’m so glad I did—what a gripping series! In the first installment, we are introduced to FBI Agent Nina Guerrera, who’s had a pretty rough life。 Abandoned in a dumpster as an infant, she bounced around foster homes, neglected and unloved, before being kidnapped and tortured by a psychopath when she was 16。 At 17, she emancipated, changed her name, and used her past to fuel her drive to protect others, first as a police officer, then as an FBI agent。 The author, who worked in law enforcement herself before becoming a writer, does a great job of providing background and fleshing out her protagonist and her terrifying and heartbreaking past in the first installment。 Agent Guerrera’s on-going and understandable struggle to trust others is highlighted as the author further develops her relationships with her still-new team mates in the second installment。 And in this third installment, she and her team are tasked with finding a predator who has been abducting coeds from a college campus, and like the first two installments, the crime scenario is intricate, original and believable, ratcheting up the suspense throughout—I actually stayed up past my bedtime because I HAD to finish this one! I only hope that this isn’t a trilogy, because now that I’ve found this author and this series, I can’t wait to read what cases Agent Guerrera and her team investigate next!NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer kindly provided me an ARC of this book, which I have read and reviewed honestly and voluntarily。 。。。more
